Les Paul at Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

A new Les Paul exhibit has opened at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio.

Les Paul Thru The Lens can be seen through the 15th of September at the museum's Roots gallery. There are 24 photos chronicling the Wisconsin native's life, starting with his childhood.

Additionally, a trio of Paul portraits by expressionist painter Leroy Neiman is on public display for the first time.

The inventor and musician came up with a prototype for a solid-body electric guitar which served as inspiration for the iconic Gibson Les Paul guitar. Les is also credited with recording innovations such as tape delay, phasing, and overdubbing.

He was inducted into the Rock Hall in 1988 by Jeff Beck, who said, ''I've copied more licks from Les Paul than I'd like to admit.''
