''Feliz Navidad''
The man behind a holiday classic, Feliz Navidad, is the subject of a new Bronx mural. That's Jose Feliciano, who made his debut at the age of nine in this New York borough.
Feliciano was born blind, but was able to teach himself to play guitar.
The artist is Tony ''RAM 2'' Cruz. He explained that he struggles with his own vision. So his painting, at R&S Express Laundry Center at 2077 Southern Blvd. in West Farms, is a message: that with resilience, anyone's dreams can be achieved.
Feliciano is surprised Feliz Navidad has remained so popular 54 years on.
He gets regular requests for the song throughout the year.
What's more, the tune is #10 in Spotify’s list of most-streamed holiday tracks of all time, and has been covered by the likes of Celine Dion, Michael Buble, BTS, and Daryl Hall.
But the performer has admitted it's been like an albatross around his neck, and that he'd like to receive more recognition for his other music.
