Icons in Levi's
San Francisco's The Vault has an exhibit that is sure to appeal to fans of denim clothes and contemporary music. It is called Amped: Music Icons in Levi's Denim.
And indeed, the company's jeans have been worn during music festivals, award ceremonies, and other key events.
Levi Strauss And Company historian Tracey Panek told the Guide: ''The show features musicians from the sixties and early seventies like John Sebastian/Lovin' Spoonful to country music star Orville Peck today.''
There are only a couple of reproductions. Tracey says they were worn by Britney Spears and Justin Timberlake, and points out that ''Britney auctioned her gown off, and we don't know where Justin's suit ended up.''
As for the original ensembles, these were worn by the likes of Elton John, Kurt Cobain, Freddie Mercury, Pharrell Williams, and Beyonce.
The exhibition is free to visit and is open through December 18. While no merchandise is sold at the museum, Tracey points out that the ''Levi's store is a few steps away.''
