The Art And Fashion of Bob Mackie
Last month, Sabrina Carpenter made her Grand Ole Opry debut in a one shoulder dress designed by Bob Mackie.
It was originally created for Ann-Margret in the 1970s, and is soon to be auctioned off. So will an eighties number, worn by Pink in 2024, which featured a leopard design and ostrich plume skirt.
These are part of the Juliens Bold Luxury Auction, which is accepting bids ahead of the big event on the third of December.
Other offerings include a green jumpsuit worn by Cher on her old TV show with Sonny Bono; a bodysuit with lame gold wings created for Tina Turner; and Carol Burnett's beaded gown (from when the comic appeared at the Metropolitan Opera with Beverly Sills).
Bob's fashion illustrations--and even paintings--are included as well. Cher, Diana Ross, and Marilyn Monroe are depicted in the latter. Bob did the original sketch of Marilyn's famous ''Happy Birthday, Mr. President'' dress, designed by Jean Louis.
Bob told CBS that it's vital to watch the stars perform (even how they walk and sit), because ''you can't just put a dress on anybody.''
