Art And History of The Photo Booth
There's a new museum and gallery devoted to the old technology of analog photo booths.
Autophoto, which is located at 121 Orchard Street in New York City, has half a dozen operational booths. The cost is $8 for black and white; $12 for color. Admission is free, though.
They even host the Sure Thing Chapel, where couples can book Vegas-style ceremonies.
Visitors can also check out an archival collection starting with inventor Anatol Josepho. l
And on view through the end of December are celebrity photo strips featuring names ranging from Britney Spears to Jackie Chan.
Incidentally, the photo booth is now a hundred years old. Historians believe there are only two hundred working analog booths left in the world.
