Rock And Pop Sale

Interested in purchasing clothing worn by stars like Chris Cornell, Lady Gaga, George Michael, and George Harrison? They are part of Sotheby's Rock & Pop Sale, running through the 23rd of April. So are instruments once owned by Bill Wyman, Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, and Randy Rhoads. 

But the axes played by Elvis Presley and Noel Gallagher have been getting the most press. The former's cherry-red guitar was used during his 'Comeback Special' in 1968, and is expected to fetch between one and two million dollars.

There are two listed which were owned by Noel. Each contains his autograph, and has an estimate of between sixty and eighty thousand dollars. 

There's even a smashed guitar fragment, courtesy of Pete Townshend. 

The most unusual lot consists of Jim Morrison's handwritten will. It's accompanied by a photo of Jim and his beneficiary/girlfriend.

All of his ''worldly possessions'' are left for ''my only companion in life, Pamela Susan Courson, in event that we have not yet been wed.''

While not the same everywhere, attendees can generally expect to see bohemian vendor booths, tribute bands, drum circles, tie-dye activities, and a vintage car show.   The latter is to open all vehicles which fit the hippie theme. Categories include Most Artistic, Grooviest Paint Job, Best Photo-Op, and Most Psychedelic. The next festival will be held in Tipton, Indiana, on September 27 and 28. The  Seth Brown Duo  (Seth and his wife, Desiree) will be among the entertainers. 40 Years On

Slash  is best known for his  Guns N' Roses  contributions. Yet he nearly wound up with  Poison . After a successful audition, he was called back twice. But  CC DeVille  got the job because of his high hairdo and heels. That's according to  Martin Popoff 's celebration of the Gunners' 40th anniversary.  Another interesting part of  Guns N Roses at 40  concerns  Arnold   Schwarzeneg ger .  You Could Be Mine  was used in  Terminator 2:   Judgment Day  after Arnold invited the band over for dinner to ''seal the deal.''  It is surprising that  Stephanie Seymour  isn't mentioned once. The Jim Irsay Collection

T he late  Jim Irsay' s renowned collection of artifacts from the worlds of music, history, sports and literature will be offered by  Christie's   New York  in a series of auctions beginning in March 2026.  This will include instruments played by entertainers as diverse as  Elton   John  and  Miles Davis . Jim used to tour with some of his memorabilia, and sang with guests like  Ann Wilson,   Kevin Cronin,   Buddy Guy,  Peter Wolf, Vince Gill , and   Stephen Stills . Part of the proceeds from the auctions will go to causes championed by Irsay. That's likely to include  Kicking The   Stigma , started by the  Indianapolis Colts  owner and his family to tackle mental health issues in Indiana.  Christie's  is also going to hold free public exhibitions at its Rockefeller Center location.
