Little Face Art

On the Fourth of July, there were all sorts of celebrations. One artist even imagined a moose, bunny, dog, and other creatures joining in.

Sharon Brotz, whose online gallery is called Little Face Art, has been writing and illustrating children's stories for many years (although her work also appeals to adults). She told the Art and Music Guide that she always has had an optimistic view of the world where everyone gets along (people and animals).

''I paint in a naive and whimsical style with the hope of having those who look at my paintings smile.'' So her pieces have included a camera-ready koala, a flute-playing panda, a snowman welcoming the signs of spring, a pair of lovestruck penguins for Valentine's Day and a woodpecker peeking out of a tree.

The artist even came up with a different version of a ferris wheel--called Ferrets' Wheel.

Sharon, who also creates images of flowers, said she is influenced by impressionist painters ''but with a touch of modern art.''  Another source of inspiration are the photos she often takes during her morning walks.
